Treatment Planning
(Written by Becky)
Over the last two weeks, Mom has been doing a massive amount of research around diet, nutrition, supplements and alternative treatments. She found out about an “integrated doctor” who practices both conventional medicine along with alternative options and made an appointment for May 24th, his first available. However, yesterday Dr Bob told us that he made her an appointment today for the same doctor without even knowing Mom had already made one. This doctor had a cancellation and was able to meet with us today.
The meeting with this integrated doctor was a good meeting. Mom felt more hopeful after hearing some of his recommendations, which included a second opinion at Sloan Kettering and pursuing chemo as well as a very intense homeopathic plan including a specially tailored diet of food and supplements based on her blood tests. He also recommended acupuncture to raise her energy, aroma therapy to decrease anxiety, high doses of vitamin C given through IV’s and Iscadore (Mistletoe) treatments which raise the immune system.
We already have several appointments next week: MRI, surgery to install the port for chemo and/or vitamin C, aromatherapy and acupuncture. She has a blood test tomorrow morning and the doctor will review it on Wednesday to determine her diet and supplements. We are also waiting for an appointment at Sloan Kettering in NYC to be scheduled for ASAP as well as another oncologist here locally.
Please pray with us as we decide treatment plans. We need to decide soon. If you would like to comment on this post with ideas, advice, opinions or stories, please do. Please don’t argue with other comments, just share your ideas, advice and/or stories.

Jennifer Griffin (FOX news) had a very serious form of breast cancer, and writes extensively about food and cosmetic choices and their interaction with our bodies, as well as a number of quality of life issues that all cancer treatments could produce. I told Chris if it was needed, I’d give her the link to read as she desired. http://jengriffinblog.blogspot.com/
Of course, we’re praying for you all as you wrestle with this news and these decisions about treatment. If there’s ANYTHING you need done, please ask. We love you!

Chris and John,
Our hearts are broken for you and your family. When Kristi was diagnosed in April 2010, we were in total shock. We are also in total shock for you now. We know that the Lord is holding and comforting you in a miraculous way…beyond our human understanding. This journey will be tough, but you will find many moments of joy and understanding the glory of God. We ardently pray for your healing (all of you) and for peace in this toughest of journeys. We also pray for the wisdom for each of your doctors and that the treatment paths will integrate with each other. May you hold onto the truths that you know…that you are mightily loved, that God will use this journey for His glory in your lives, and that you will know JOY!
Across the miles we send our hugs. DO NOT EVER HESITATE to tell us how we may help practically. Our love to you all.

1. Please consider changing name of Blog to…our journey of faith and healing or faith and miracles etc…There is at least one bible verse that means.”out of his mouth so he is”..to support Chris in her NOT stating and accepting or owning this diagnosis..as a powerful step in winning this battle. I wish to urge everyone to speak words of LIFE here as a support to her, to yourself and to squelch any opening for negativity. Replace fear with FAITH.
This past year I learned much from brother in law Dan, who is now with Jesus as of March, 2011 from a battle with malignant melinoma. I likely will post often as I know he would like to see his experience help others. First of all when he had a focus on Loving God and others (ie: a project for his daughter) he was the most positive and centered, treatments were responding more favorably and his quality of life was up. When he focused on the “diagnoses” all aspects to life would deteriorate.
2. Another thing I remembered is he always felt much better after a hot bath. So when I began researching healthy alternatives for hot tub chemicals for Chris, I remembered a Chapter in a book by Thomas Cowen, Fourfold Path to Healing where he talks of cancer in very different ways, one of which is its “winter” characteristics, it hates high heat. I also viewed a web cast interview I watched with Dan where Dr. Linchitz and Dr. Gonzales in NY discussed alternative treatments they mentioned Far-Infared saunas were helpful based upon some reports of Spontaneous remissions of cancer patients who came down with fevers. So when I ran across this site http://www.alkalizeforhealth.net/therapeuticbaths.htm speaking on raising body temp using baths etc… I felt it worth posting. We all could use more hot baths and a sauna for prevention as well as treatment. Plus not likely to have contra-indications with other treatments..but check with doc.
Enough for now, “By his stripes we were healed”.
Love you Chris,
Jenni-baby Golemb number 6.

My mother had lung cancer (small cell) over 20 years ago. I am amazed at the advances in medicine since then. The Internet is a big help, it lets us be our own advocates in a way we couldn’t when my mom was diagnosed, because we couldn’t get the kind of information you can get now. I will pray God will lead you in His path, but it seems that He already is doing so.

Thank you for creating this blog. So many people love you all and want to know how you are and what to specifically pray for. I’m glad to have a place to direct them. I knew about the diagnosis and am very encouraged that God lead both you and Dr. Bob to the same specialist. Earl and I are praying!

We are good friends with Dave and Janet Lenehan. We just want you to know that we are praying for you. We have a friend who is 43 years old and in April was just diagnosed with the exact same cancer, non-small cell lung cancer. She had a funny whistling sound when she would exhale. They found the spot on her lung. She had the MRI on her brain but there was no cancer. They did find a tumor on her spine which fractured her spine. She has had radiation on this tumor for the past three weeks to shrink it. She is not a match for the pill. They are continuing to explore alternative therapies for her. She is resting in the Lord and has determined to put her trust in Him. She has declared that no one can determine the day of her passing except Her Lord who loves her. If there is any information that they find that it is helpful I will pass it along to Dave and Janet for you. We will be praying for you Chris as we pray for Margie. Our God is Great and Mighty!

My friend’s father is an oncologist in PA who specializes in non traditional treatments (diet, vitamins, supplements, etc) and combinations of alternative and mainstream treatments. Sounds like you have already found one who is similar, but his name is Dr. Frances Powers, in Williamsport PA. I’d be happy to tell him you are friends of mine if you’d like to do a phone consult or anything with him. He has done that for other friends of ours in the past

Glad you are enjoying wiht your family the Vitamin D giving sunshine from the Lord today Chris!
Check out Thomos Cowen’s website on holistic approaches. He is the man that I consulted with over the telephone after my thyroid swelled up to almost golfball size. http://fourfoldhealing.com/2010/06/10/a-holistic-approach-to-cancer/ Judy also prayed over my thyroid as well…and I attibute my healing to the Lord Number one, but I needed to “do something” too…
He also wrote in his newsletter specifically about how their clinic is using Hyperthermia and activated air therapiesf maybe this would help to know to talk to your doc about at some point cause they seem to go well with all therapies.

I wish I had some information that could be of help to you as you wrestle with this diagnosis and treatment options. What I do have is assurance to you that I will be keeping you all in prayer as cancer is not an individual issue it is a family issue as everyone’s lives change. God bless you all. Our God is a BIG God. My prayer is that all who know you and see you will experience His goodness and mercy through your life. May you know the PEACE that passes all understanding and may He guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus!
God bless,
Pam

We have a dear friend that was diagnosed with a later stage prostate cancer (it hadn’t spread beyond that) and he has also done the mixed therapy approach with great success. Using conventional chemo (pill form I think) and major diet change. Be encouraged.
You’re all in my prayers. And I’m praising God for all that He has done and will do through Chris, her life and now this journey.
