Monday

(Written by Becky)

I just talked to both Mom and Dad for quite some time. They asked me to update you, our family and friends.

Mom is still in the hospital in Michigan. She was disappointed to be missing the classes at the retreat she’s on but they have offered for her to stay next week for free. She’s still thinking about it because she misses Dad terribly, but she also needs a great deal of help which Dad can’t do right now. People from the retreat are visiting her in the hospital several times a day and bringing her special diet right to her. She’s also had several visits from local YFC people there coming to pray with her and bring her some books. Her spirits are high and she’s full of excitement and faith. Excitement about all the stuff she’s learning about nutrition and faith that God is healing her. We had a nice chat and prayed together on the phone.

Dad is home and settled into his new bedroom in the family room. Friends and family have hooked him up with a refrigerator close by stocked with snacks and have a schedule of people coming by so he’s never alone. The guys are even sleeping there overnight. He’s still in a great deal of pain, but ok when he rests. He’s the typical John Richmond, though… already making plans for working from the bed tomorrow and has a list of phone calls to make for various YFC projects. Typical! He goes back this Friday for another surgery to get some screws inserted into his foot.

There’s no way our family could be surviving right now without the help and prayers of our family and friends. You are extensions of God’s hands and feet and we are so grateful for you.

Will you please keep praying fervently? Mom asked me to ask you to pray against spiritual warfare. She is astounded at how many people are praying for our family and she’s certain that Dad’s accident and her hospitalization are an attack from the enemy.

Chris and John, you have many friends and loved ones in the background following your blog and praying for you. Our hearts yearn for your speedy recovery. In love and prayer, Don & Kathy

John and Chris and family, thank you so much for the privilege of being able to pray for your family. I will pray against Satan’s attacks and that you will be able to keep your eyes on Christ who is carrrying all of you through this. Love, Carol and Stu Colby

Donna and I are praying every day for peace and healing. I sat at the piano and my hymn book was opened to “Under His Wings”. So I played it and prayed. I thought you would be encouraged by the words.
Under His wings I am safely abiding, Though the night deepens and tempests are wild. Still I can trust Him I know He will keep me, He has redeemed me and I am His child. Under His wings, under His wings, Who from His love can sever? Under His wings my soul shall abide, Safely abide for ever.

Wow! How you are both going through the fire.

Isaiah 43:1-2 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Still praying.

Dear Chris and John,
What is happening is nearly unbelievable … except that I agree with the above, that you are up against intense spiritual warfare. And that is a sign you are headed in the right direction following the Lord. Satan does not want to see you victorious, since that will add to the Lord’s glory. But we know the end of the story!!! I also have heard the Scripture Ellen quoted from Is 42 for you. Steve and I join our love and prayer with that of all the saints praying for you, for complete healing for you both. In His great , powerful love, Karen and Steve

John and Chris, Your journey is so overwhelming and yet so many are standing with you in your pain.

Know that we are praying for you many times during the day and night. \

Love, Bob and Nancy

PS John I wish we could play cribbage while you are recovering

I just figured out how to post a comment to you although I have been following the blog and praying for you ALL daily/nightly! God is so faithful and I am NOT amazed at how he is working in your lives. He uses EVERYTHING….though my heart aches for all you are suffering through. Praise God for the “servants” who are caring for you both in so many ways. They are being blessed by having a way to help care for you. They are there for such a time as this…..WOW! a direct link from God. Love and prayers always!
