It’s not “just a walk”

(Written by Becky)

This morning, we took a walk. While most people take this for granted, I thought it was pretty significant. You see, 12 weeks ago, neither Mom or Dad could get out of bed to walk to the kitchen, let alone around the block. Dad’s first crutch-less and boot-less walk was today. And although it was only a little over 10 minutes, it was huge. To see Mom and Dad walking hand-in-hand symbolizes so many things, including that we are getting through this nightmare TOGETHER. And isn’t even extra special that Dad’s first walk is on Mom’s birthday weekend??

We are excited to celebrate Mom’s birthday tomorrow. Every birthday is special, but this one is so much more meaningful because doctor’s said she wouldn’t see this birthday. Mom gets EXTREMELY energized by her friends and family. Would you please take a minute to send her a message for her birthday, either on facebook, email or a post on this blog. Let’s bombard her with messages these next few days!
