When the Cat’s Away…
(written by Becky)
… the mice go out and play!
Dad crushed his foot last night in a motorcycle mis-hap and had surgery on it already. He’s in the hospital until Monday and is in a great deal of pain, so much he can’t sleep well. He’s also very nauseous from the pain medication and not eating. They are managing the pain with morphine in the hospital, but I’m worried about when he’s home alone with Mom away on her retreat.
Can you please pray for Dad? We don’t know how long his foot will take to heal. (And he does so much for Mom when she’s home, which will be nearly impossible now.) Doctors are saying that he may never run or play sports again. He goes back this Friday for another surgery to insert screws.
Friends from YFC are organizing a meal drop-off schedule for Dad. If you haven’t heard from them and live in the area, would you please let me know here and I’ll pass it along to them? He could use a daily main meal and then some odds and ends, like his favorite Tropicana fresh-squeezed orange juice and some snacks like his old time favorite: chips and salsa.
These meal drops offs could continue past next week when Mom returns so he doesn’t have to focus on his meals as well as hers. She’s on a strict diet, but Dad loves anything that doesn’t have olives, sardines, anchovies or liver!

Becky,
Rick and I went to see your Dad this morning and he is doing OK, in pain but OK. I am going to coordinate a schedule (along with Kate) to have people care for him when he comes home. We will make sure he is not alone for any extended time and cater to his every need! Please rest in the knowledge that he is so loved by so many and will be our first priority until he is well enough to be on his own. We are already discussing how we will set him up in the family room so he won’t have to do any stairs for awhile. Let us know if there is anything else you think he will need or anything we can do for you. We love you all, Cherie

I’d also like to request others join in this prayer:
“Father God, Papa, our Almighty, you have been so good to this couple, thank you for your support throughout their years together as they have dedicated their lives to you and your service. We pray that this experience draw both Chris and John closer to YOU their maker and also to each other…reminding them that faith is like a muscle. The more they exercise it the stronger it grows. Let their marriage covenant be strengthened as you remain and are illuminated as their center, uplifting them and giving them peace in trusting your vision for their future. We are praying for FULL recovery for John just as we are praying for FULL recovery for Chris. Let NOTHING and NO ONE stand in their way! We know you are our author and finisher of our faith. We Give you ALL THE GLORY and thank you for everything you did on the cross for us. In Jesus Name, Amen
